Wordless Wednesdays

So, I've been pretty busy lately doing all kinds of different things and have taken some fun pictures so here's what I've been up to......

The roomies and some other friends and I spent a few glorious hours at the beach on Sunday afternoon. It was beautiful and sunny for awhile and then....

it got dark and kind of eerie looking so we put on our clothes and played games at the beach instead! Hey, at least we stuck around!

Valentines Day Wine & Dessert party with my roomies!

Me with the Valentines Day hostess with the mostess, Co
rinne!

My roommate Swa
ti and I at a friend's pub crawl.

My roommate Gina and friend Jennahway and I at a Pin-Up Pageant show!

This was my favorite dress of the show. I just love polka dots!

On Saturday I ran a 20 mile training run!! Woo hoo!! It went really well and I can honestly say that I think I'm ready for the Full Marathon next month! Wow, I can't believe I just said those words!

Afternoon at the Santa Monica Pier

This afternoon my roommate Gina and I spent shooting our 6th you-tube video at the infamous Santa Monica Pier. I'll upload the video tomorrow morning but for now enjoy these amazingly cute pictures we took in between shooting the video.

We definitely rode the renown Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel! It was a lot of fun and incredibly beautiful shooting the video way up at the top.

Gina introduced me to a part of the pier that I've never been to before-the underneath. We took some awesome pictures there. The lighting was just perfect for pictures. The water, however, was freezing! It's taken me awhile to learn but Gina has taught me the art of posing like a pin-up girl.

Little did we know that the day we decided to shoot our video, a group of professional photographers from all over the world were meeting up right there at the pier. One in particular actually came up to us and wanted to know what we were doing all dressed up. He happened to be Philip Bloom, a well-known filmmaker and director of photography. He must have really loved our look because he asked to take a few pictures of us and even requested a picture with us altogether.

A trip to Santa Monica wouldn't be complete without a quick visit to Muscle Beach, "home of the physical fitness boom of the twentieth century." Of course we couldn't work out in our cute play suits. : )

You-Tube Video #5-Pin-Ups and Pick Ups!

Yep, Gina and I made another you-tube video yesterday at the fair! We are on fire with these you-tube videos, aren't we?! This time we asked people at the fair what the best pick up line they've ever heard was. It was a lot of fun! Check out the video here: Pick Up Lines Pin-Ups Prefer. Enjoy!

Please also tell your friends and family about our you-tube videos, as we are trying to increase our viewing audience. Thanks and happy watching!

Pin-Ups Going the Distance

Alright, Gina and I made our third Pin-Up youtube video last night. We have been wanting to see "Going the Distance" and thought that it might be fun to talk about long distance relationships since that's what the movie is about. Then we thought it would be even better if we also asked people around the theater what one piece of advice did they have for making a long distance relationship work.

Please take a moment and check out our
video- we are especially proud of this one and it's definitely my favorite so far!

My First You-Tube Video

This week my roommate and I decided to make a video of us in our kitchen baking my mom's famous banana bread, chocolate and pecan banana bread that is. I know, we are fancy over here! : ) Then, to make it even more exciting, we got all dressed up like Pin-Up girls for it! As I've mentioned plenty of times on my blog, my roommate, Gina, is the mastermind behind an amazing project, Pin-Ups for Vets. Needless to say, we know a lot about the pin-up attire. We hope to make many more videos in the future, of course they won't all take place in the kitchen. Got any ideas for things we could do dressed up like Pin-Ups? Nothing too scandalous, of course!

Check out our video for yourself:

Running Post #7/Fundraising Letter

I just sent out the following email to all my friends and family in hopes of getting more money for my half-marathon for AIDS. This email is a little different though, I have created a fun incentive to get people excited about it... Check it out! : ) Oh and as a side note, on my training run tomorrow morning, I'll be running a whopping 11 MILES!! Aaaaahhh!!! Wish me luck because I am super nervous!!

Hey Everyone,

Ok guys, so in order to entice you to donate to my AIDS Half-Marathon, I've decided to copy a fellow Half-Marathon participant. He has raised a ton of money by creating deadlines for his friends and family.

This is what he did: He told them that he if he raised $X by DATE, he would wear a Brownie Costume on his 8 mile run and then he did it again and promised to wear an Athena costume on another long run!! And he really did!! He filmed it and took pictures and posted them all over the place.

So, here I go!!! If I raise $200 from you all by August 14th, I will dress up as a Pin Up girl for my 6-mile run! What do you think?! I'll take a million pictures and post them on Facebook, my blog, etc...

Just think, I could be dressed like this while running 6 miles!

Now back to the serious stuff, I've challenged myself to participate in a half marathon training program that is simultaneously motivating me to run hundreds of miles and helping to bring an end to the devastating effects that HIV/AIDS still has on our society.

Every dollar that someone gives helps improve the quality of life for someone less fortunate. APLA offers dental care, mental health care, bus passes, food banks, health referrals, job training, prevention courses and advocacy on a local, state and federal level. All donations are tax deductible.

It's not too late to donate! I know some of you were waiting for paydays; waiting for a more convenient moment; waiting for a reminder from me... so here it is! Please visit my AIDS Marathon home page and donate today! And remember that I might be dressing up like a Pin Up girl on next Saturday's run!

Thanks for being amazing!! And for all of your generous, generous support!!!

Love,

Leah
