I'm a Celebrity!

I'm a celebrity. . . OK, not really but it's definitely fun to get mentioned in newspapers. Check out this link for the short newspaper article about my roommate Gina and my visit to a Marine Base in Honolulu, Hawaii about a week ago for Gina's project, Pin-Ups For Vets. Gina is for sure the true Pin-Up girl celeb, I'm just her Pin-Up assistant. : )

A New Work Out Class!

The Bar Method work out class is my new obsession. And before you ask, no it does not involve going to bars or drinking at all. : )

Well, I guess you can't really call having only gone to two classes an obsession but it's definitely something that I'm about to dive into. Today I even purchased a month long package deal. I've been bored with the gym lately and my running routine outside is slowly getting too hot to do when I want to do it. In comes my dear friend Belinda who has been going to bar method classes for a few months now to help her trim down a little in time for her amazing Hawaii wedding at the end of this month. We had plans to meet for dinner last week and she suggested that I come with her to one of these classes before we grab dinner. I am so glad that I took her up on this offer because the class felt amazing!

Here is the description of what exactly the bar method is all about:
"Exercise classes that integrates the fat burning format of interval training, the muscle shaping technique of isometrics, the elongating principles of dance conditioning, and the science of physical therapy to create a revolutionary new workout that quickly and safely reshapes your entire body." It's a combination of dance, pilates, yoga and then some strength training thrown in there too. Sounds easy enough, right? Uh, not so much! It's a tough hour-long work out that burns just about every muscle in your body. Tonight's instructor told us, "the more you shake and the more you burn, the better".

Apparently all the celebs are taking bar method classes so it's incredibly trendy right now, especially here in Los Angeles. Drew Barrymore and Kelly Osbourne specifically have recently lost a ton of weight and it's all because of these workout classes. They both are looking incredible these days! I'm a big of Ms. Drew Barrymore so that enticed me to try the classes out for myself too.

I'll keep you posted on my progress! Have you ever heard of the Bar Method?

Fashion Show

It was a another typical Tuesday night...

My roommate Gina and I attended yet another star studded amazing Fashion Show in downtown LA. Uh, NOT!!! We never ever do things like this! In fact, it was my very first fashion show ever and let me tell you, I felt so Sex and the City! For the ladies that watch Sex and the City, they'll know exactly what this means.

It was for an LA line of vintage inspired cocktail dresses called Stop Staring. It was
"founded on the idea of timeless and classic dresses, and rockabilly clothing, Stop Staring! is inspired by silver screen glamour icons such as Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich, Rita Hayworth and Joan Crawford." The dresses are beautiful and look great on absolutely every body type.

Before the fashion show started, there was a very cool red carpet that we posed on for a bit. There was even a wax Lady Gaga there! Of course we had to take a picture with her!

Guess who was there?! Bridget from "Girls Next Door"!!

Here are a few pictures from the show itself. These were some of my favorite outfits.

There was even an awesome 40's style Andrew Sisters type girl group, The Swing Dolls.

Here I am posing before the fashion show started. So much fun!

LA County Fair Fun!

I spent today at the LA County Fair at a fund-raising event with my roommate Gina for her project, Pin-Ups for Vets. Of course we had to dress up as Pin-Ups for the whole day! That wasn't a problem for me because you know how much I love dressing up. I especially love all Gina's fun wigs! What do you think of me with this short black hair?

One of my favorite parts about today was getting to try the delicious fried Oreos! OMG! They were amazing! I seriously heart Oreos! If you get the chance to go the fair, try them! Of course, they aren't something that you should be eating all the time. : )

Another fun thing that happened today at the fair is Steve Wilkos showed up to sign autographs and take pictures with fans. For those of you that don't know him, he was Jerry Springer's main security guard on his show. But now, he of course has his own talk show currently in it's 4th season. I've never seen it but apparently he has quite a following. He was a nice guy and just so happened to be a Marine. This of course made him super VET friendly.

We also got to hang out with the renown Iraqi Veteran, Bryan Anderson. His story is incredibly moving and was featured on the January 2007 cover of Esquire magazine. His experience will astound you and certainly teach you what it means to be strong in the face of immense hardships. These are the kind of people that I look up to.

Star Sightings and Bingo

Ok, so I knew that it was only a matter of time before I saw my first celeb since moving to LA and last night it finally happened! And not just one, I saw two stars in the same place! Lucky me! I saw JC Chasez from N'SYNC (the cutest one in my opinion...well, after Justin Timberlake) and actress Annalynne McCord from Nip Tuck and the new 90210. Of course I was very excited to see them and it felt pretty cool knowing that I live in the same city as these guys. Yet, I do know that if I continue to have nights like these, I'll stop being starstruck and realize that celebs are just people with very visible jobs. However, if I should see my top two celebs, John Mayer and Beyonce, I cannot be held responsible for my actions! : )
Last night, all this went down at Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood. It is a fabulously gay-friendly restaurant.
"Hamburger Mary's franchises are "open-air bar and grilles for open-minded people," where guests enjoy a flamboyant dining experience. Everyone is welcome at Hamburger Mary's, but our concept is unique in that we are the ONLY national franchise actively marketing to the gay community. When you walk into a Hamburger Mary's it's like walking into Mary's home, where you will be greeted with a warm smile and friendly (if somewhat saucy) service. Each restaurant may be unique in its eclectic décor, but they all provide the friendliest service and highest quality food."

In addition to all of that, Wednesday is their Legendary Bingo Night! So, a few new friends and I enjoyed several rousing games of Bingo. You pay $20 for 5 or so games and all the money raised goes to a charity of their choice. Last night it went to Team in Training and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This of course got me thinking about asking them to consider my two events this year and holding fundraisers for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk and Project AIDS Los Angeles. Stay tuned for more of that exciting idea!

Ok, back to the Bingo and the coolest part of the night, I actually won a game!! This never happens to me! I never win anything ever! Check out my winnings: $20 Gift Certificate to Wahoo's Fish Tacos, $20 Gift card to Trader Joes and $10 Gift card to Starbucks! Awesome, right? I am so glad that I went out last night!
