Blog Face-Lift?

So I'm considering spending a little money and giving LA 'n' LA a little face-lift. For those of you that have done this, got any suggestions? What blog designers have you used? What is the average amount I should spend? Is it based on the time they spend working on your blog? I've heard that Designer Blogs is good. Anything that I should make sure to add onto my blog or things I shouldn't bother spending money on? I have absolutely no idea so any and all help is greatly appreciated.

All I know is that it's time for a change! I'm definitely in need of a new layout, a new color scheme, new fonts and more. Heck, maybe I'll even create my very own blog button. Even though I'm still not sure what the purpose of having your own button is. Can someone enlighten me on the reasoning behind those?

How long did it take till you were ready for a fancy new blog upgrade? If you haven't done so, what keeps you from going to that level?

  1. Hey girl, I'm back to reading and commenting on blogs again... Since I'm not working. Anyway, if you want to pay the blog-equivalent of a plastic surgeon, then first decide what you want. The blog should reflect who you are. Oh, and (my understanding) is that people can 'grab your button' put it on their blog and that brings more traffic to your blog. Also, they are just fun.

If you don't want to spend that much money, keep the layout super simple (black text on white background) and just have them create a personalized banner.

You know you can contact these designers directly and tell them what you are thinking about and see what they say... how much it will cost... etc. That's what I did. And I was happy with the result.

    Whew... long comment.

  2. Hey girl! I was just like you once upon a time, I knew I wanted a blog face lift but was clueless to hiring someone to do it for me. Anyways, I used Jumping Jax Designs (you can find a link to her at the botton of my blog) she listened to my thoughts and was very patient with me. She also has three diffrent price ranges which is great for any budget!

Good luck I can't wait to see what the new design will look like!

  3. You read my mind! I have been talking about changing my blog and tried to do it myself, but geez it is a pain! Lol. I absolutely love "M's" new page and I totally want to hire someone to work on my blog now. Downside, I am pretty fickle and it has to be something I can stand to see for well, quite a few mths lol. Let me know how it goes!

  4. Hi Leah! I used Krizzy Designs, her button (and link) are on my page. I really liked her and she was SUPER easy to work with.

I think I blogged for 4-6 months before I decided to get a custom design for my blog. I can't even remember why I did it, I think I just wanted something that was completely me:)

As far as price, I think I spent $50-60, which I thought was reasonable!

  6. Leah, use Alissa Designs by AJ. She did mine (and your sister's) and she was really nice, easy to work with and not expensive.

  7. What Coreen said... :) There are tons of designers! Some bloggers have blog design give-aways, but generally, they aren't expensive.

You've done a good job so far changing your design up from time to time. I'd hate to see you pay for a new one and then get bored with it. I'm getting to that point right now and it's only been 5 months. Ugh!
