I had my first official training run this past weekend and it was tough but also inspiring. While it was only a short 2 mile run, it felt like a lot more to me and it felt especially long to my poor right calf. Yes, I am still struggling with that pesky calf! After the run I did chat with one of the running coaches about it and they were very helpful. They told me to stretch, stretch, stretch it out. Also, I should keep on icing it after my runs and put Tiger Balm on it too. I've been doing all of this already but it helps to hear it from a professional.
I was happy to finally meet other fellow participants in the half marathon. Everyone seemed very nice and I was even happier to meet other people that aren't exactly "runners". In fact I ran next to a running virgin like myself for about a mile. It was refreshing to talk to someone who has never run before and it lets me know that I'm not alone in this. I'm not the only one out there that is terrified of the idea of running 13 miles.
Next week we'll be running 3 miles on the group training. Wish me luck!!!
